Darwin International Laksa Festival: Laksa League Participant Terms and Conditions
Introduction
- The Laksa League is brought to you by the Darwin International Laksa Festival, a Northern Territory Government initiative.
- The Darwin International Laksa Festival will run from 1 October – 31 October 2025.
- The Laksa League encourages members of the public to visit participating venues and try, taste and review as many laksa and laksa-inspired by dishes as part of the Festival throughout the month.
Merchant: terms and conditions
- Businesses who participate in the food tour by entering a laksa or laksa inspired-by dish are known as vendors.
- Vendors must supply their registered food tour dish for the entire festival between 1 – 31 October 2025.
- Vendors must display their unique laksa league venue code during the festival (1-31 October 2025).
- Only vendors who participate in the food tour and adhere to these terms and conditions will be eligible to trade at the festival finale on Saturday 1 November 2025.
Laksa League: eligibility and entry restrictions
- The Laksa League is an online web-based app which encourages people to visit as many venues to try laksa and laksa-inspired-by dishes as part of the Laksa Festival.
- Users can earn points by completing a range of interactive actions in the Laksa League platform, a full list of actions and points is provided below.
- To participate in the Laksa League, users must create an account and provide basic personal details which will be recorded in line with the Department of Tourism and Hospitality’s Privacy policy.
- The username and profile photo you provide to create your Laksa League account will be visible to other users who have created an account for the Laksa League; all other details will be kept private.
- Any photos uploaded into the Laska League becomes the property of the laksa festival, and can be used to promote the festival. This includes, but is not limited too, collecting photos submitted into photo competitions and for reviews from the Laksa League to post on social media.
- Users can earn points through a range of interactive actions through the Laksa League from 5am 1 October 2025 to 11.59pm 31 October 2025.
- Employees of the Licensing, Commercial and Enablement and Destination Marketing divisions within the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, Darwin Waterfront Corporation, as well as contractors engaged directly in the delivery or administration of the Darwin International Laksa Festival, are ineligible to participate in the festival or to receive any associated prizes.
Prize Information and Eligibility
- Prizes offered by external organisations are subject to the suppliers own terms and conditions. Prize-related communications must be with the supplying organisation.
- Prize recipients will be notified via phone call and email. Winners will have no more than 10 business days to claim their prize, or it will be re-allocated to the next eligible person.
- Prize allocation is determined by the Darwin International Laksa Festival team and no discussions/disputes will be entered into.
- Prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternatives are offered.
Voting system
- Participants are encouraged to vote for their favourite Laksa and Laksa Inspired By dishes through the Laksa League website. Participant votes through Laksa League contribute to the ‘People’s Choice’ award. The dish with the most participant votes by 11:59pm on 31 October will win the People’s Choice award.
- Participants are able to vote in two categories:
a) People’s Choice Best Laksa
b) People’s Choice Inspired By
- Where votes are attributed to dishes located in regions, these votes will go towards the:
a) Regional People’s Choice Best Laksa
b) Regional People’s Choice Inspired By
- Voting for People’s Choice will be open from 17 October to 31 October 2025.
- Players are allowed to change their votes during the voting period (17 October to 31 October). All votes will be final with no exceptions by 11:59pm on 31 October 2025.
- Players will only be able to vote for one (1) laksa and one (1) laksa inspired by dish.
General Terms
- The Northern Territory Government reserves the right to alter or cancel the competition at its discretion without notice.
- By participating in the Laksa League, users agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Northern Territory Government from any claims, damages, losses, or liabilities arising from their participation in the Laksa League.
- The Northern Territory Government reserves all right to alter information provided by users if deemed inappropriate.
- By creating an account, entrants accept and unconditionally agree with the above terms and conditions.
Privacy
- The Laksa League will operate under the Northern Territory Government’s Privacy Statement
