Laksa inspired-by dishes we want to see!

The Darwin International Laksa Festival is turning six this year!

Over the years, the beloved Festival has seen hundreds of laksas and laksa inspired-by dishes. Alas, we want to see more... We have seen the likes of laksa sausages, schnitzels, cookies and even cocktails! But that's simply not enough, we must have more!

To get your creative juices flowing, we have created a wish list of delicious items that we are hoping to see "laksa-fied" this year.

Laksa Croissants

The croissant is one of the most recognisable and loved pastries in the world, and we're surprised we haven't seen it be laksa-fied yet! Could 2024 be the year?

Laksa Sushi

Imagine how great a laksa flavoured sushi roll would be! Instead of a teriyaki chicken roll, how about a laksa chicken roll instead? Spicy tuna roll? No! Laksa tuna roll? Yes!

Laksa Paella

The OG one pot wonder, the delicious paella. Move over saffron, its laksa's turn to spice up this dish! We would love to see this Spanish classic transform into a laksa inspired-by masterpiece.

Laksa Falafel

In our humble opinion... Falafels are severely underrated in the deep-fried food category. A good falafel is a game changer, now imagine if your next falafel was infused with laksa!

Laksa Mac and Cheese

This dish is universally loved and its obvious why! We are picturing this with a laksa bechamel as the base, mixed with lots and lots and LOTS of cheese and pasta - yum! 🤩

Laksa Mozzarella Sticks

Not too far away from the mac and cheese is its taller, skinnier cousin - the mozzarella stick. We think the cheesiest of cheese snacks should be infused with laksa for a crunchy, gooey, explosion of flavours!

Laksa Apple Pie

We have had laksa beef pies before, but we haven't had a sweet laksa pie yet! We think that the ever so humble apple pie could play well with the extravagant flavours of laksa.

Laksa Eclairs

Eclairs are French desserts made from choux pastry, filled with pastry cream or custard, usually iced with chocolate. We have seen plenty of cream based laksa desserts before and they worked a treat - so this dish feels like a no brainer to us!

Laksa Brownie

Everyone loves a chocolate brownie; it just does not miss! Since we already know laksa flavours goes well with chocolate, this flavour marriage will surely not end in tears!
